  • Challenge on Management level

    January 27, 2010

Everyday we gain knowledge either by learning or by doing a mistake. No one is 100% perfect in what they do and hence never feel inferior when asked to lead a team. Management guys are good in running a team and the team which deals in a special department would be good in what they do.  It is how smart you are in learning fast and take over the position you are supposed to take care of which would need lot of homework. A discouraged person would never be able to lead a team as his inferiority complex would start overruling his ability to learn and at one point the team below him would sense it and which would ruin the whole team.

  • Better business with IT

    January 24, 2010

Most of my business is with India and in my 9 years experience I noticed the quality of the end product could be improved a lot with the interference of IS. Indian companies for some reason refuse to accept it and still they feel IT is meant for foreign companies. I feel Indian companies should give more importance to IT which would definitely improve the quality of work.

I had a meeting with my employees in my production unit in India on some issues I was upset for which I asked the employees to give their opinion of how it could be reduced. One of my senior employee explained on what he felt is a issue of why he as a quality checking person is not able to give the expected quality. The solution is simple, we did not have the needed tracking software which has to line up the work and pipeline the work flow. Since we did not have it in place it was showing up in the quality of few of our work. We have started working on it.

  • IT influence in an Indian Manufacturing unit

    January 24, 2010

December when I was in India I visited my friends spinning mill which has around 125 spindles running in it in a 50 acres production unit. I spend a whole day there who walked me through the whole process of how raw material gets in and leaves out as a fabric. Amazing to see the process and it takes 1 week for a cotton raw material to get in and gets out as a fabric. The most amazing thing I noticed is how less of computers used in the unit nor I saw a IT department to run this unit. Since I did not notice any tracking system put in place I asked him how he monitors the movement and how he would be able to find out errors if any happens Everything is manually monitored without any sought of tracking systems in place. Still lot of manufacturing units run in India like this even though India has maximum number of software engineers.

    January 22, 2010

I am a small business owner and my business deals with Medical records Management. Even though I don’t have a IT division in my business, Information technology plays a major role in my business for the work flow to go smooth. As a person from Medical background it took me lot of time to put things together which could work for my business to operate. I am sure still lot can be done to make the work flow much more faster and make it more client friendly. To know more about my business please visit www.svmeditrans.com
